Testimonials

For my fifth 14er, I solo climbed La Plata Peak mostly because the trailhead had a paved road to it that my little car could access.  Long story short, I traversed the peak instead of out and backed.  Fortunately for me, there is a road on the other side otherwise I’d still be out there.  I very humbly hitchhiked all the way back around while learning lots of very important lessons that day.  I also thought there ought to be whiteboard to leave all your info on so you could be found if you didn’t return on time.  And now there is.

“Shit gets real real quick” says Graydon Washington of Denver who set out for a simple day hike from Meridian Trail in Bailey on a sunny spring morning only to have an unexpected storm with heavy wet snow move in and disorient him.  After a night spent under a pine tree trying to avoid getting dumped on, the still shivering hiker emerged on a dude ranch in Evergreen and lamented the fact that once you are off trail that everything looks the same.  “I wish I had used a Know Where They Go board that day and I’ll never go on even the most basic hike without using one again, if not for myself, for peace of mind for my Mom left behind at home that doesn’t know where I’m at.”
