Many things mark the changing of the seasons in Colorado, but the alpine pasque flower is always the canary in the coal mine for spring. They pop up around April in the 8-12,000’ range and excite those ready for an end to the long, cold winter only to be dumped on by the heavy spring snows. It’s nature’s way of saying “Gotcha!”
