Origins of Our Adventure

In 2017 while taking a rest and hydration break at timberline on the standard route to Colorado’s rooftop, Mt. Elbert at 14,443’, I sat perched on a log while removing a boot to free an unwelcome hitchhiker of a pebble. I laid my nutrition bar down nearby while I used both hands to tend to the situation afoot. Upon hearing the crinkling wrapper, I swiveled my head to see one of a few Gray Jays that had gathered trying to abscond with my snack! Thus, my first encounter with a bird affectionately known as a camp robber. While not pleased with him trying to steal my food, I had to admire his gumption. After enjoying subsequent encounters along hikes throughout Colorado, the camp robbers had stolen their way into my heart. At our COVID wedding at the scenic Maroon Bells in Aspen, we were joined by the officiant, photographers, one local friend and, naturally, a camp robber. My very soon to be wife set her bouquet down on a rock in front of us so that our hands were free to exchange rings and the bouquet was directly set up by an opportunistic camp robber, pecking holes in the flowers and trying to eat the fake berries, endearing themselves to us both forever. And now we share our love for camp robbers, Colorado, nature, critters and home décor with you through our wholesale website, camprobbercreations.com.
